Patria
The Patria AMV (Armoured Modular Vehicle) offers excellent mobility and the best overall performance available on the armoured wheeled military vehicle market. This fourth generation Patria vehicle is based on the most state-of-the-art technology, and provides versatile modularity combined with excellent mobility, firepower and protection. The modular structure of the vehicle makes it suitable for a wide range of purposes, and allows different choices of components and subsystems. For example, suitable weapons and heavier armour can be used to convert the Patria AMV from a troop carrier to an infantry fighting vehicle. The Patria AMV has high carrying capacity and large growth-potential for future use. The maximum combat weight is 26t (or 22t in water), which is an exceptionally high value for this type of armoured wheeled vehicle. Patria has demonstrated the superior mobility of the AMV in various environmental conditions all over the world. The mobility of the AMV is a combination of important design factors which have been carefully implemented and tested, the most important being a combination of ideal size of wheels, independent suspension in all axles and strong power line with all-wheel drive. These factors, together with high engine power of 405kW, ensure high speed and outstanding on- and off-road mobility. The AMV has protection levels up to 30mm APFSDS frontal arc, and top-class mine protection up to 10kg TNT. The high payload allows various types of weapon systems to be integrated, from 7.62mm to 105mm turret systems, or 120mm AMOS / Patria Nemo mortar systems.THE PATRIA AMV FAMILYThe Patria AMV family has been developed to provide optimal modularity of components, and to provide adaptability between versions without changes in basic vehicle systems. Versions are based on three hull models:1. Basic model versions, such as APC, IFV, command, ambulances, reconnaissance, ATGM, etc.2. System platform, with spacious rear compartment, for versions like C4I, large ambulances, workshops, etc.3. Heavy weapon platform, which is optimised to carry large calibre weapon systems, such as 120mm AMOS / Patria Nemo, and up to 105mm MGS.FOURTH GENERATION ARMOURED WHEELED VEHICLEThe Patria AMV is the only fourth-generation armoured wheeled vehicle in serial production at the moment. The AMV 8x8 is already in service with the Polish Army. The total quantity of the Polish order is 690 vehicles in several versions. The Patria AMV is also in serial production for the Finnish Defence Force (FDF): Patria will deliver 62 AMV armoured personnel carriers to the FDF by 2008. Additionally, the FDF has ordered 24 AMVs with AMOS 120mm mortar systems. The Patria AMV was also ordered by the Slovenian Army at the end of 2006. The vehicles will be manufactured in Finland and in Slovenia, together with Slovenian co-operation partners. The scope of the deal covers 135 wheeled vehicles in several versions. In addition, Patria AMV is the only contender in South Africa's Hoefyster Program.PATRIA AMV MEETS MODERN MILITARY REQUIREMENTSAs crisis risks change, vehicles are required to provide more effective protection and mobility, as well as modularity and air transportability. Wheeled vehicles, which have lower overall running costs than tracked vehicles, meet these requirements. One of the most important procurement criteria for today's defence forces is NATO compatibility, on which Patria products are based. Owing to its versatility, different versions of the Patria AMV vehicle can easily be built to suit various tasks.
