Smiths Detection
Smiths Detection is a world leader in products and systems to detect and identify threats to our freedom, safeguarding society against terrorism and criminality and protecting the armed forces and first responders.Smiths Detection offers complete security solutions through trace detection equipment and through x-ray systems that carry the name and reputation of Smiths Heimann. This combination of technologies is built into products that safeguard those in the front line and the public at large; they protect buildings and transport systems; they can screen everything from a ticket to a truck. Smiths Detection is one of four operating divisions of Smiths Group plc, the UK-based international engineering company that serves detection, healthcare, aerospace and speciality engineering markets. Smiths Group has sales of £3bn, employs 27,000 people, principally in North America and Europe, and invest healthily in research and development in support of its principal product areas. The ongoing investment strategy has enabled Smiths Detection to offer the widest range of innovative technology solutions.LCD - LIGHTWEIGHT HAND-HELD CHEMICAL DETECTORThe LCD provides individual protection against a wide range of Chemical Warfare Agents and Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs). Lightweight and compact, it can be clipped discreetly to the user's clothing, belt or harness, enabling them to undertake their primary role.A variant of the he LCD was designed to meet the requirements of the UK MoD LCAD programme and is the front runner is the US JCAD programme. Used by armed forces and emergency response organisations around the world, for major sporting events to the G8 summit, the LCD sets the standard in individual protection.GID-M - MAN PORTABLE MULTI-ROLE DETECTORThe most advanced man-portable multi-role detector for both military and civil applications. The GID-M is capable of detecting extremely low levels of Chemical Warfare Agent (where hazardous effects may not be immediately obvious) and a wide range of Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs). With a range of operating modes, the GID-M has been designed to meet the most demanding requirements.Used around the world, with a variant currently is service with the UK MoD, fulfilling their requirement for a Man Portable Agent Detector MCAD.GID-3 - PORTABLE DETECTORThe most widely fielded and battle proven detector in the world, the GID-3 is highly portable, easy to use and rapidly deployed and has been designed to withstand the harshest battlefield conditions. As well as point detection, it can monitor the integrity of collective protection systems in vehicles, command bunkers and small ships. GID-3 detects, identifies and measures the concentration levels of Chemical Warfare Agents and Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs).The detector of choice for the US DoD, fulfilling their requirement for the M22 ACADA detector and used widely throughout NATO. There are currently more than 40,000 units deployed around the world.GID-3 (24/7) - NETWORK CAPABLE DETECTORUsing an enhanced GID-3 detector, the GID-3 (24/7) provides continuous 24-hour protection for buildings, transport systems and other critical facilities in a weather-proof housing. The unit may be networked to a central command using range of methods including wireless, ethernet and fibre optic. By interfacing with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, the GID-3 24/7 can automatically shut down the system or reverse flow should a hazard be detected. As well as detecting Chemical Warfare Agents, the GID-3 (24/7) will also detect a wide range of Toxic Industrial Chemicals (TICs), which can be supplemented by additional libraries to meet changing and emerging threats to critical facilities and events.CAM - HAND-HELD CHEMICAL WARFARE AGENT MONITORThe CAM monitor is a highly effective and easy to use detector for Chemical Warfare Agents and selected Toxic Industrial Chemicals. In military applications where the threat of chemical agent is anticipated, the CAM is used to monitor and confirm the type of agent used, as well as the concentration of the contamination. The unit can also be used post-attack to monitor exposed personnel, vehicles, equipment and terrain to assess the extent of cross-contamination.Police and security services around the world are increasingly using CAM when conducting profiling and site search operations. Battle-proven, reliable and deployed in recent conflicts, with over 70,000 units in service around the world.

Rajant Announces New High Performance Wireless Breadcrumb LX
Portable Wireless Mesh System Delivers Big Bandwidth and Resiliency for Critical ApplicationsRajant corporation, a leading provider of portable wireless mesh networking solutions, announced today the availability of the BreadCrumb LX, a new high performance wireless access system. This high bandwidth multi-radio device adds to the existing family of portable Rajant BreadCrumb wireless mesh devices that are deployed by hundreds of military, mining and first responder customers worldwide.Rajant's new BreadCrumb LX will allow users to connect standard IEEE 802.11b/g (Wi-Fi), or 802.11a devices such as laptops, PDAs, GPS devices, IP cameras, sensors and RFID tags to a secure, highly-available, high-bandwidth wireless mesh network. Increased bandwidth and interference avoidance is achieved through the dual radio architecture that utilizes both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz unlicensed frequency bands."The market has responded nicely to this new offering from Rajant," said Glenn Booth, Vice President of Marketing for Rajant. "The BreadCrumb LX multi-radio, multi-band architecture gives our customers even more bandwidth and network availability to support some of their new emerging applications such as video streaming and health-monitoring of high-capital equipment. We have designed the BreadCrumb LX to be modular to support up to three radios. We are also testing additional frequency bands such as 4.9GHz and 900MHz."Rajant's InstaMesh is the underlying software technology on each BreadCrumb that can maintain hundreds of client device and network BreadCrumb connections simultaneously, even while the clients and nodes are moving. InstaMesh removes much of the network setup and configuration complexity by utilizing imbedded intelligence and a single switch for activation."The new BreadCrumb LX augments our Secure Mobile Communications offering which gives our customers a multi-frequency, rugged and secure mobile mesh solution," said Louis Street, Cofounder of Armoured Technology. "We found it to be very high performing and it has robust radio and security features that are perfect for convoy, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), and portable sensor applications.
